Cosmetic Shopping Suggestion

Do you have those experience that you buy the wrong makeup, or something you will never need? Or you go shopping and end up getting nothing? To save you time and money, here is my steps and suggestions of makeup shopping.

1. Clean up the mass. Take a look at your makeup drawer, box whatever, throw away the expire ones and something you will never use again. List what you need and don't need from what you just throw away (in case you make a same mistake to buy something you don't want), and list what you are missing.

2. Do your homework. First, use beauty blog, magazines or YouTube videos to see those products reviews. Listen to people why like like or dislike the products (But sometimes products don't always work for everyone). Then go to cosmetic official, retail, or department store websites and compare the products, price,..etc. If there's something you confirm to perches without trying, sometimes shopping online might save you more time and gas. Third, after knowing where you can get or try the products you have in mind, plan a trip so you won't have to wonder around. If one store sells most of the products, that's great (ex: Sephora).

3. Make a Call. Call the store before you go, to find out what the shipment day is so you will have higher chance to get the products you list. Also call them see if they have the products you want, if not, ask if they can call the shipment. If you need makeup consultation, make a appointment so the sells can focus on your need at your time.

4. Choose a day. As my experience working at Sephora, weekends are the worst time to shop makeups, you don't get much help from the sells and products run out quickly. Usually Monday to Thursday is the best to shop. If you are busy during the weekday, try go to the stores after the stores open or before they are closed.

5. Talk it out. When you are heaving a consultation with the sells lady/men, feel free to tell them all your concern, including skin condition, life style, preference, budget,..etc. Also they them what you are currently using. So the sells will know what you are missing or won't try to sell you what you don't want. When the sells finish your makeup, don't be afraid to tell them you would like to walk around and see how the colors play off under different setting of lights. If you don't like the results, just tell them the same thing and happily walk away.

6. Save your receipt. Some places have great return policy even though you already open and use the products. Some places only allow exchange. So ask before you perches and save those receipt. It's your right to return the products if you are not satisfied with them, especially those cause your skin irritating.

7. Shear your thoughts. To help other beauties, you can also tell people what you think about your makeups, help people to save their time and money!
